Rocket League is, as developer Psyonix so effectively explains, “soccer, but with rocket-powered cars”, and that high-concept pitch is as tantalising as it sounds. You drive your souped-up vehicle around a series of arenas which have a goal at either end. The objective is to shunt the massive ball into your opponent’s goal while preventing them from doing the same; the team with the most goals at the close of play wins. whether win or lose will affect your next match becaust of the MMR in the Rocket League game.
What is MMR?
MMR, or Matchmaking Rank, is a hidden number value that represents your rank in-game. The rank and division that you see is a visual representation of this MMR value. Each rank represents a range of MMR values, each division a smaller subset on that rank.
For simplicity’s sake, the MMR values I’m using here are not real values, but numbers meant to easily illustrate how it works.
For example, let’s say that each rank represents 100 MMR, each division 25.
Bronze 1 div 1: 0-24 MMR
Bronze 1 div 2: 25-49 MMR
Bronze 1 div 3: 50-74 MMR
Bronze 1 div 4: 75-99 MMR
And so on and so forth.
How MMR Works?
MMR gains/losses are determined solely on whether you won or lost the game. It doesn’t matter with your points, MVP, goals, assists, and shots. goals against don’t matter either. Nothing matters except the win or the loss.
So How your MMR affected by a wim or a loss? the answer is not quite clear. the Psyonix doesn’t release few MMR details any more. and it’s also hard to say clear with several words. but here is three conclusion from the reddit
When matched against an equally ranked opponent, you will gain or lose the average amount of MMR.
When matched against a higher ranked opponent, you will gain more or lose less than the average amount of MMR.
When matched against a lower ranked opponent, you will gain less or lose more than the average amount of MMR.
Why MMR Exist?
MMR keeps you relatively stable in your placement. If you’re not getting on a 5 or 6 game win streak you’re probably not going to be able to hack it in the next rank.
Losing isn’t fun. If the game had you at a 50/50 winrate all the time it would be boring and you wouldn’t move. This way you get to win a little more often but you’re still at the same place you’re supposed to be at.
Meanwhile, Playing vs lower ranks gives you less points for win and takes from you more points for loss.
The Advice for Us
Stay your rank, for instance, you are always Champ 1. Maybe you can play better in the game, but Champ 1 may be your my rank. Champ 2 is a little too fast and you need always carry yourself out of diamond almost immediately if you happen to fall from some bad luck.
